Sewer Emergencies
The Village's sewer lines are maintained under contract by Rockland County Sewer District No. 1. For sewer emergencies, call their 24/7 emergency line: 845-365-6111.
Snow Plowing — Roads
Village roads are plowed under contract by the Town of Ramapo Highway Department.
Snow Plowing — Sidewalks
Under Local Law, snow removal and general maintenance of sidewalks — including repair of defects — is the responsibility of the adjacent property owner. As a service to residents, the DPW also plows sidewalks to help expedite clearing for pedestrian safety, though responsibility for the sidewalk remains with the property owner.
Road Maintenance
Pothole repair, double-yellow-line striping, and painting of stop bars and crosswalks are performed under contract by the Town of Ramapo Highway Department.
Road Resurfacing
The Village resurfaces roads periodically as needs arise.
Drainage System
Catch basin cleanout is performed under contract with the Town of Ramapo. In addition, the DPW conducts a thorough biannual cleanout of the Village's drainage system, and also maintains local streams and brooks. The Village has recently undertaken a major, multi-million dollar infrastructure upgrade to its drainage system, funded through a combination of grants and bonds.
